Walking path along a 'levada' in Madeira, Portugal

The 'levadas' or irrigation channels in Madeira's ancient Laurissilva forest allow visitors to walk in the otherwise undisturbed ancient forest. This is in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Caldeirão Verde. The incredible ecosystem with trees that are hundreds of years old is an invaluable environmental heritage of the world.
